National Nature Reserves in the South East

Chopham Common   Chopham Common is the largest NNR in the south east of england and one of our finest remaining heathlands. The reserve is nationally important for its invertebrates, particularly bees and wasps, ladybirds and water beetles, while more than 40 per cent of all species of spider found in Britain occur here. To help restore the ancient character of the heath and conserve its unique wildlife, the Surrey Wildlife Trust Countryside Service is carrying out large-scale scrub management and is reintroducing grazing and turf cutting.
Take the A30 to Sunningdale, head south towards Chopham on the B383. The main car park is signposted after about 2km. Landranger Map 175  Tel 01276 858 291

Richmond Park  Largest of the Royal Parks and managed as a royal deer park since the 17th century, Richmond Park retains a unique rural feel and offers a peaceful respite from the hubbub of London and a taste of mediaeval England.
The Reserve is very busy in summer and visitors are advised not to come by car. Richmond Park is run by the Royal Parks Agency and is situated south of Richmond in Greater London. The park is easily reached from Richmond's main line station, the District Line and by buses 371, 65 and 85
The park opens at 7.00am in summer and 7.30am in winter and closes at dusk.

Sussex Heritage Coast

The Magnificent stretch of coastline between
Seaford and Eastbourne and inland to the A27 is designated and protected as a 'Heritage Coast' one of the finest examples of unprotected chalk cliffs in Britain which includes the famous Beachy Head and Seven Sisters cliffs. Inland the rolling landscape of the South Downs and the meanders of the Cuckmere Valley offer beautiful views and delightful walks. The Heritage Coast and its many unspoilt villages are easily accessed from London and the coastal resorts of Brighton, Eastbourne and Seaford. Local towns like Lewis also have excellent rail and bus links into the area and make ideal holiday bases.
